Simit Gathering at the Historic Darülikram Bakery

Darülikram, the historic bakery at our Darülaceze Okmeydanı Historical Campus, which nourishes hearts, hosted benevolent simit lovers from different parts of Istanbul.

At the Darülaceze Simit Gathering, which we held with the participation of chef and writer Kevser Çelikel, a pleasant conversation took place about the historical journey of simit, a common delicacy of different cultures. Kevser Çelikel described simit, which is agreed upon and found in different forms in many cultures, as "a circle that unites everyone around it."

Our Darülaceze President Esra Ceceli İslam, who gave information about the history of our Darülaceze and Darülikram Bakery, said; "The oven of our Darülikram Bakery has never gone out for 130 years thanks to the support of benevolent people like you; in every situation and condition, the simits and bread baked here have fed the homeless."

After the event, we gave our donor simit lovers information about our institution's services and future vision to our Okmeydanı Historical Campus. Our philanthropic participants, who showed great interest in our rehabilitation center and also chatted with our residents, learned detailed information about the "volunteering" process.
