OKMEYDANI HISTORICAL CAMPUS APPLICATION

The admission process at the Darülaceze Okmeydanı Campus is based on a special evaluation system conducted within the framework of the Darülaceze Regulations, which carries the founding vision of 1895 to the present day. This system adopts a multi-dimensional humanitarian approach that considers not only the individual's physical but also their social, economic, and family circumstances.
Who can apply?
In order to be admitted to the Darülaceze Okmeydanı Campus, the applicant is expected to meet the following criteria:
- To have been born in Istanbul or to have resided there for a long period,
- To be elderly or to have an illness/disability that prevents working,
- To have no income, assets, or social security,
- To have no family members able to provide care,
- To be without relatives or lacking social support,
- To be socially compatible and not have a contagious or severe psychiatric illness
Admission Process Steps
Preliminary Application and Initial Interview
The social services unit conducts an initial assessment of eligibility by interviewing the applicant or a close relative.
Obtaining the Necessary Documents
Documents may vary depending on the applicant’s situation. In general:
- Copy of the identity card
- Medical board report
- Social status declaration (income, assets, family/relative information)
- When required, a report from a municipal physician or law enforcement authorities
Medical Examination
The applicant undergoes a pre-admission examination by the Darülaceze health unit. Their physical and mental condition, and whether they carry any infectious diseases, are assessed.
Social Review
The expert team will assess the social environment, living conditions, and family situation. On-site visits may be necessary.
Admission Board Evaluation
An admissions committee, comprised of representatives from social services, health, and administrative units, makes the final decision. The committee considers institutional capacity, block suitability, and social priorities when making its decision.
Installation and Commissioning
The accepted individual is placed in the appropriate block. The in-house integration, care planning, and social support process is initiated.
Exceptional Admission Forms
Pursuant to Articles 15 and 16 of the Regulation:
- Individuals who donate their own assets to the institution
- Individuals who request services in return for a specified fee and who comply with institutional conditions may be exceptionally admitted to Darülaceze.

The admissions process is conducted not only on a technical level but also within a framework of ethical and social responsibility. The institution respects the dignity of each applicant and operates the process transparently.
